about

"Looking Back" is an ode to the black community and the importance of restoring the "neighbor" to the "hood" for future generations.

lyrics

Verse
Sometimes I sit and reminisce on what has come to be.
The trials and tribulations, that had an affect on me.
Like growin up without what we wanted, but havin everything we need,
It’s in those times, I came to find the soul deep down in me.

Hook
Take me back to the days, when all we had to do was play just to get by.
Growing up is never easy, when you don’t have some community behind you.
Looking back on all the good times, that I had as a child, make me smile.
It’s our responsibility to give the babies of tomorrow the same luxury.

Lookin' back
Lookin' back
Lookin' back

*4 bar break*

Verse
Our neighborhood was our playground, and it took care of it’s own.
Lessons that we learned as kids, carried over when we got grown.
Times have changed and unity is just a novelty.
Let's come together, and make change our top priority.

Bridge
Come one, come all
Stand up, stand tall
This time, we all
Will be accountable for our future

my hand, your hand
help the, next man
do what, you can
to be part of the master plan

say man, black man
teach that young man
to be a better man
a role-model for the children

teacher, preacher
real truth-seeker
all my, people
to treat each other like we’re equal
